Most hoist gearboxes recommend an oil change after 500–1,000 hours of operation for new units.
For heavy-duty or continuous-use hoists, check the manufacturer’s specifications—some may suggest every 2,000 hours.
Visual inspection helps: if oil looks dark, gritty, or foamy, change it immediately, regardless of hours.
